RANT 'N RAVE #1: Free For All
I just don't get it...the two party lines dividing the country in half...red and blue and me and you and I hate you and you're a loser 'cause you don't think like I do...what's all the fuss, man?...you're all missing the point. We need to LIVE TOGETHER to survive...I can't stand the divide...in the name of God you start a crusade...what God is it to whom you pray? it certainly ain't the god that's shown me my own worth and heart and love and compassion to this day. Once you see your heart you can never go back...there's no love in politics...it's just the American way...I've never seen my God portrayed up there giving hope to the poor and love to the blind and compassion to everyone even if they are a lowly prostitute like mary m. ...people on the Internet, please can't you see? we can't cast the first stone...we're ALL guilty. ...we go back and forth and curse and swear to defend our stance til the end of time...but who are you to tell your brother or sister what he or she can do? ...try to look in the mirror...into your eyes...what are you doing to better the world?...who have you helped today? ...what cause have you fought for with all your heart and soul....and who's spirit did you uplift...there is no spirit in politics...it's all a sham. look inside and you'll find what you're searching for; whether you call Him Yahweh, Jesus, Buddha, Shakti, The Self, the Witness, the One, the Great Universal Mother, Kundalini Shakti....on and on and on....Who of you who are fighting over politics has so much love in your heart that it's overflowing? I don't feel it. Anti-abortion this and pro-abortion that--throw away your picket signs and look within your hearts. Heal yourselves, my God....who has the right to cast a stone? Who? Stand up now and be heard...Lord love a duck...I can't stand the red and the blue. This is supposed to be the United States of America and most of what I read on these blogs is the Divided States of me vs. you...I can't stand it anymore. It's all in the head. ...nothing from the heart. Nothing. What ever happened to LOVE ONE ANOTHER??? What ever happened to LOVE ONE ANOTHER???? WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER???? Oh, I see, you've skipped that page...well, I suggest you go back and dog-ear that page....'don't have to walk on water...make water from wine....enlighten the world...or do anything...but love one another. Please. It hurts me to see this fighting. There is NO spirituality in politics. It's hard, and dead, and rough, and malignent. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD...PLEASE...FOR THE BENEFIT OF US ALL...LOVE ONE ANOTHER!
Put down your verbal guns right now and do something nice for someone or for yourself. Help the world become a better place by doing something kind for it. Resistence creates suffering.
Don't focus on what you hate: focus on what you LOVE!
This is NOT a red and blue country. It is ONE country...indivisible.
RED and BLUE= PURPLE
From now on I'm color blind. I don't want to hear about your red and blue. I want to hear about what you're doing to make the world a better place.
What have you done today to make the world a better place? Who have you helped? Who have you loved? Who have you inspired? How have you honored yourself today? I WANT ANSWERS, DAMNIT!
LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
IT'S SO EASY...IT'S SO SIMPLE...IT'S RIGHT HERE...RIGHT NOW.

It is so simple it is heartbreaking!
Yes it is.
I went to meditate last night and I just didn't feel right. I didn't feel centered at all. I contemplated what the problem was and what it's source could be, and I realized that I was just filled with tension from reading several political blogs: some liberal, some conservative. The amount of hatred on the sites was just dragging me down. I refused to go to sleep feeling that way, nor did I wish to desolve the tension by sitting meditation, so I just did a 'free write' and wrote down everything that came to my mind.
Thank you for your comment, Milady!
That is sooo awesome Bhakti and well said. I agree. What a mess this country has become in the pst 5 years. What a mess..
Nice post Bhakti! The most important things in life are so simple, yet easy to lose sight of.
The thing about hate and fear is that eventually, maybe after many many lifetimes, it runs out. 'Til then, people have politics, war, self-righteousness etc. with which to butress themselves, but it won't do an iota of good.
Love is always that much stronger than everything else, and is, as Leonard Cohen rightly says,
"The only engine of survival".
Somehow, women seem to understand this more than men.
Peace
TANISHA--thank you for visiting today. I'm glad that you appreciated my post. And, from the looks of your post, thank you for you. I wish you well in your conversion to Judaism. Shalom!
FLATLANDER: Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredibly heartwarming site. It's always a pleasure 'blogging' with you!
Love your rant. That's why when I run, I'll run as an independent. Tired of the stupid labels. There are some things I'm conservative in, like economics and I love guns, and some things I'm liberal in, like accepting folks' differences and I'm a big time environmentalist.
I try to accomodate everyone. If we look at each other, there's something we can find that we can agree on. Let's start with that. For what we disagree on, let's just agree to disagree.
I love how you wrote this. Yes, we all are guilty. I'm guilty, I'll admit it.
United We Stand, Divided We Fall. A nice saying, one that's over 200 years old and still applies.
It's like I keep saying: I don't care what party you're in, as long as you can carry a tune.
ZOMBIE SLAYER: Thank you for your comment. You've got my vote. In some ways I am conservative, and in others I am liberal. I can't draw a line in the sand and join one side. We all have different personalities, different life experiences, different jobs, different skin colors, different likes and dislikes, etc. How can we be divided into two separate groups. It's time to get back together and stand for what our country is supposed to stand for (Freedom and Liberty). We are so spoiled...we should be setting an example for the rest of the world.
Thank Goodness, some of us are.
Your presence on my blog is always welcome and greeted with a loving smile. Thank you for you, Zombie Slayer!!
GYROBO: As long as you don't sing Barry Manilow or whistle the tune to the Andy Griffith Show, we'll all get along just swimmingly!! :)
ROBOSHRUB: When are you running for 'office'? (I suppose the word 'office' will be obsolete since there won't be any politics. But then, you will need to keep some kind of order over the land, so I suppose you will need a phone, fax machine, and a computer. You'll need a chair and a desk, too. So, basically, you won't be 'running for office', but you'll be 'sitting in an office' after you win the 'election'. Right??
Rant & Rave, Kiddo. Get it out of your system.
I am so frustrated by politics, also. The problem i see is the emotionalism, & lack of logic. The two sides cannot see where they are the same, the 2 sides of one coin syndrone. Isn't politics strangely like religion, sometimes?
I've never seen Jai and Silent Bhakti so worked up before. I think it's time we went Marcus Iunius Brutus on these politicians!
I've long ago resigned myself to the fact that I'm nobody. This is comforting, considering our politicians are supposed to represent all of us. Since I'm nobody, they obviously don't represent me.
And that, folks, is a very good thing.

PURPLE IS THE COLOUR OF THE TERRORISTS!
I abhor all that red and blue stuff too!
Michele is found at www.micheleagnew.com
I saw where you had asked who she was, so now you can find out.
Love One Another: Own a Gun
L>T: Isn't politics strangely like religion, sometimes?
I assume you mean organized religion, not merely one's chosen religion. In the case that you mean organized religion, then yes, it does. Anytime you get mass of people joining a bandwagon for the sake of having a cause, or belonging to something, you're bound to have hatred against all others.
Having said that, I admire people like CABE because he knows what he is talking about and has done extensive research and studying on the topics he is so passionate about. He also knew that Thomas Jefferson didn't have anything to do with the Constitution...buts that's another story altogether... :(
Zen Master Robo Zombie Alex HAHAHA! My mother was reading the blog yesterday and she said "Who is this Zombie Slayer?" and "What's a Gyrobo!?" Hhmm...some of you might be wondering what Bhakti means: Love and devotion. It was a monikor bestowed upon me by one of my sprititual teachers. I suppose for this post it might extend itself to mean Love and devotion and anger!
Yes, Alexander the Great, I, too, am nobody; but at the same time I am everybody. There is no beginning or end. We are all One in this cosmic play...Okay, I'll stop! :)
FROYD(sic): PURPLE IS THE COLOUR OF THE TERRORISTS!
Yeah, like I believe anything YOU have to offer. You hate the Beatles. Only Pinko Commis hate the Beatles! (I thought I would throw in the words 'Pinko Commis' since I've never visited a site--besides Cabe and Stan's) where someone wasn't called that for holding opposing views.)
KENJU: Great minds think alike! :)
Thank you for the Michelle info, too.
CABE: re: Love One Another: Own a Gun
You bring up a very interesting and important point here, Cabe. For some reason, people think that if they are to LOVE ONE ANOTHER that this will somehow make them weak and powerless. This is not the case. Learning to LOVE your fellow human being actually gives you strength because in order to love someone else, you have to first admit that you love and honor yourself as a worthy human being.
Also, Love One Another: Own a Gun brings up another great point: I think it was Narada, who was the author of the Bhakti Sutras, BTW, who said, "Just becuase everything is God doesn't mean you should hug a tiger." In other words, we can love one another and still protect ourselves against harm. Good point, my dear boy!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS. ANY AND ALL TYPOS ON MY PART ARE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE 'NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT' WASN'T IN PLACE WHEN I WAS A KID. (oH, i'M bAD!!)
Purple is the color of Prince's house, so I'll have to agree with Froyd. That man(?) terrorizes us with his horrible pop music and his even worse acting. And his choice of #$%^ing colors. Who picks purple as a favorite color, anyway?! How much fruitier can you get?
grr....
-Alex
ALEX: re: Purple. Well, you know, the only color you get when you make a melting pot of red and blue is purple! Perhaps we can ask George W. to change the state divides into red and yellow and then we'll have ORANGE. Purple has always been my favorite color. So, I'm sticking with it.
I'm a PURPLE person!
I like your sentiment, and wish the people who matter would read this and be moved. I've long been saddened by the inability of those with differing political views to appreciate the patriotism of the other side. It's almost as if they're part of two separate solitudes.
Hopefully, your entry will get some people to start thinking differently.
Back from Michele's. So much more to read here....
CARMI: I like your sentiment, and wish the people who matter would read this and be moved.
Yes, I agree. But, I've found that most people who could perhaps benefit from reading this probably don't visit my site to begin with. But, I think it's worth sending this kind of message out into the world...just to get it out there so other people, like yourself, know that somewhere out in the world is a person who wishes for the divides to come down, and for people to learn to work together. Or, at the very least, respect each other!
Thanks for visiting again! :)
You very eloquently stated what I have been feeling for the past few years. The only love politicians have is for money!
I am sick to death of political blogs. Right-haters, left-haters, where is the love?
I've lived long enough to realize that I can't change the world by myself. However, we can ALL change the corner of the world we live in by following your advice.
LOVE ON!
